Lead author Candyce Kroenke from health care firm Kaiser Permanente, which completed the study, stated the reason wasn't completely understood.

She added: ‘Hot flushes and evening sweats can be triggered with a complex interaction which involves changing hormonal levels, the hypothalamus region from the brain that adjusts body's temperature, brain chemicals and receptors, and also the body’s bloodstream ships and sweat glands.
